(Full Bio)
Rooted in over 25 years of devotion to reggae music, Jah Mex is a California-born artist whose sound bridges classic roots tradition with a fresh, soulful perspective. Raised on the West Coast and shaped by years of performing alongside both local legends and international icons, Jah Mex brings depth, authenticity, and warmth to every note.
His early releases, Firm Soundation (2009) and Soul Garden – Roots Version (2015), were produced by reggae bass legend Fully Fullwood and feature members of the iconic Soul Syndicate, including Santa Davis and Tony Chin. Jah Mex later contributed keyboards and vocals to three EPs by The Soul Syndicate All Stars, released in 2023 and 2024.
In 2024, Jah Mex collaborated with producer DM Kahn and guitarist Albert Hurtado on the single “Rootsman Style,”distributed in Europe by Creation Rebel Sound System and pressed on 7-inch vinyl in London. The track received airplay from legendary broadcaster David Rodigan on BBC 1Xtra and gained support from selectors and collectors throughout Southern California.
Currently, Jah Mex is completing Ephphatha, a five-song EP produced by DM Kahn and created through an international collaboration with Roots Makers (France/Canada). Meaning “be opened,” Ephphatha is slated for vinyl and digital release in summer 2026.
Beyond his solo work, Jah Mex is widely respected as a freelance keyboardist, having performed with reggae greats including Eek-A-Mouse, Mighty Diamonds, Junior Reid, Marcia Griffiths, Cornell Campbell, Tippa Irie, and many others. He has also filled in for Steel Pulse keyboardist Selwyn Brown and remains a longtime member of Los Angeles roots group Lesterfari & Kings Music.
Born Adam Arredondo and proud of his Mexican heritage, Jah Mex found in reggae music a space for self-discovery, expression and unity—values that continue to shape both his sound and message today.
